Dazzling Light

i wake up sunday morning
with a misty fog
hanging over my high rise
you have gone
you are gone

now i’m framed against the window
craning hard
to see down the street
to catch a glimpse
as you leave

i’ve been down and lonely
i’ve been lost
shapeless and dark for a while
stumbling to the living room
the paper’s on the table
but no note
i fall into a chair
and fail to read
then you appear in my front door
with coffees
having taken my key
you’re expressive and sweet
and kind relief

i’ve been down and lonely
i’ve been lost
shapeless and dark for a while
but you’re a dazzling light

now we’re in the galleries
feeling every painting is our own
you’re an impression
and i’m surreal

i’ve been down and lonely
i’ve been lost
shapeless and dark for a while
but you’re a dazzling light
you’re a dazzling light
you’re a dazzling light
