Steel and concrete with smog in the air
You need some space, you need to breathe
But no one seems to care
It’s a city in black and gray
Scraped with walls of glass
Then a searchlight follows
As the cherry beret moves past
No one cried on the day your diamond fell
It shimmered in the air then busted on the pavement, well
That’s what you get for thinking
Anyone would spend their time
Giving a hand to you
In fitful dreams you chase behind
Someone whose heart can be true
Isn’t it good
Aren’t you fine
Isn’t it just what you wanted
The big city lights
Shimmer and shine
Just like you always imagined
Isn’t it just what you wanted
There goes the girl wearing the cherry beret
You follow her down through the streets with no names
To an angel’s apartment
Where it’s safe to hide
Or a no-rules club
Hiding dark secrets inside
And isn’t it good
Aren’t you fine
Isn’t it just what you wanted
The big city lights
Shimmer and shine
Just like you always imagined
Isn’t it just what you wanted
Doesn’t it shine from across the river
Doesn’t it emanate a majestic glimmer
But it’s a neon façade
Like a Vegas hotel
Dark on the inside
Rotten as hell
Isn’t it good
Isn’t it fine
Isn’t it just what you wanted
The big city lights
Shimmer and shine
Just like you always imagined
Isn’t it good
Isn’t it fine
Isn’t it just what you wanted
The big city lights
Shimmer and shine
Just like you always imagined
Isn’t it just what you wanted
Now
